Can you spot any of these hot trends in your home?

2022’s hottest home trends have been released and “Zillow predicts homeowners will invest in projects and features that make their homes more livable, sustainable, and comfortable.” Can you spot any of these trends in your home?

A Down-to-Earth Color Scheme

Zillow’s latest paint color analysis found that homes with light blue bathrooms are selling for 1.6% more than expected while dark, moody blues in bedrooms are selling for nearly a $1,500 premium. Paint colors can add to the overall aesthetic of your home and they can significantly influence your mood. Many of today’s top interior paint manufacturers were in tune with this trend as they chose their 2022 color of the year. Check them out below for some wall color inspiration!

Throwback Decor with a Modern Twist

Throwback home design is hot! Rather than replicating their childhood homes, young homeowners are giving a modern twist to popular home trends from the 1990’s. The popular faux paint finish has been modernized to a plaster finish. Wallpaper has made its way back into style with contemporary and geometric patterns, all-wood kitchens are back with white oak replacing the old cherry cabinet style.

Squishy Furniture

The New York Times says, “Like sweatpants, squishy furniture is in.” Curved couches and rounded corners are dominating the market as homeowners have begun prioritizing what feels good over what looks good.

A Private Retreat

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused people to prioritize their mental health. Private spaces such as reading nooks, spa-inspired primary bathrooms, she-sheds, man-caves, and spaces for meditation are one of today’s highly sought after home trends. Retreat features can help sell a home for 2.2% more than expected and freestanding bathtubs are contributing to a home selling for a 2.6% premium.

Renovations

Homeowners are getting creative! Garages are being turned into home gyms. Sheds are becoming home offices and some homeowners are clearing out their old clothes to make room for a “cloffice.”

A “PAWesome” Home

Zillow says pet owners should invest in custom feeding stations, built-in pet beds, and even pet playrooms in 2022. Homes with fenced in yards and dog runs sold faster than similar homes without these features in 2020.
