Throughout the history of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, a hearty serving of academic basics has always been stressed. It serves 116,512 students in Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade across 91 campuses. Their vision is held with the acronym, “LEAD” (Learn. Empower. Achieve. Dream).

Anthony Middle School

Anthony Middle School opened its doors in 2014 and serves students in 6th-8th grade. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD chose to name the school after former superintendent, David Anthony, Ed. D., who served Cypress Fairbanks ISD for seven years. Anthony Middle School is located in the Towne Lake subdivision on Greenhouse Road. It is a three story building and the school aims to use each space for innovative learning and academic growth. The campus was specifically designed to be a teaching tool for students. Student life includes both clubs and athletic teams to enhance the student’s middle school experience.

Aragon Middle School

Mission Statement: Our mission is to inspire, motivate, and support the growth and achievement of all learners.

Aragon Middle School opened its doors in 2001. The school’s namesake, Ms. Aragon, was a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD staff member for 35 years. She taught English, history, and sociology at Arnold Junior High School and Cy-Fair High School for 16 years. The school currently serves students in 6th-8th grade. Aragon Middle School’s vision is to be an exemplary school community dedicated to the highest standards of quality at all levels and in all endeavors.

Arnold Middle School

Mission Statement: The parents, students, and staff at Arnold Middle School, working together as a team with the community, are committed to providing opportunities that will allow the educational, physical, social, and moral development of each individual student.

Arnold Middle School opened its doors in 1956 and was named after Mary and Forrest Arnold, who contributed 84 years to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. The school serves students in 6th-8th grade. To honor their commitment to the mission statement, Arnold Middle School says the team will  maintain a supportive and respectful environment that encourages students to develop to their fullest potential as responsible, productive citizens. A variety of athletic teams are available for both boys and girls to get involved in.

Bleyl Middle School

Bleyl Middle School opened its doors in 1973 and was named after Dr. Karl Bleyl, who served the district for 20 years as a teacher, principal, coordinator, and consultant. The school serves students in 6th-8th grade and both athletic teams and clubs are available to get students involved in student life.

Campbell Middle School

Mission Statement: Campbell Gators are scholars. Our mission is to produce graduates.

Campbell Middle School opened its doors in 1978. The school was named after Mr. and Mrs. Bud Campbell.  Mr. Campbell served on the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees for 13 years, including a term as president. During his tenure as a Board member, the District grew from 4,327 to 16,496. Mr. Campbell was a charter member of the Cypress-Fairbanks Educational Foundation and served on the Foundation Board for seven years. Campbell Middle School’s vision is to be committed to being a high performing school where students can learn and feel safe, parents are welcome, and staff feel supported and valued. Campbell Middle School offers athletic teams for students to get involved in.

Cook Middle School

Vision Statement: Cook Middle School will be an exemplary school community dedicated to the highest standards of learning at all levels and in all endeavors.  We will prepare our students in a safe, positive, and clean environment with an education that enables them to live successfully in an ever-changing society.  Working as an educational community through effort, mutual respect and focused on our mission and goals, our students, parents, community members, and staff will create a culture of excellence.

Cook Middle School opened its doors in 1986. It was named after Charles B. Cook, who was a Texas Ranger and a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD school board member at the time of his death. The badge, a symbol of the Texas Rangers, and the school, is located at the entrance to Cook Middle School. Cook Middle School offers athletic teams for students to get involved in.

Dean Middle School

Dean Middle School opened its doors in 1955 and was named in honor of Berta Dean. Berta Dean came to the Cypress-Fairbanks district in 1932 as one of the three teachers for 84 students. She taught for the district for 25 years. Dean Middle School aims to develop purposeful students to engage in academic excellence while advancing rigor, relevance, and relationships for the new leaders of tomorrow’s world. Dean Middle School offers a variety of athletic teams for students to get involved in.

Goodson Middle School

Mission Statement: The mission of Goodson Middle School is to provide a high quality, comprehensive and meaningful education for all students. We will build the foundation for successful students through relationships, relevant and engaging learning, and effective communication. We challenge our students to be responsible problem solvers who are actively engaged in their learning. Our success in this mission will build lifelong, confident learners, who have the tools necessary for success in a changing world.

Goodson Middle School was named after Mr. Goodson, who spent 26 years with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD as a teacher, coach, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and associate superintendent for administrative services at several Cy-Fair ISD campuses. Students are offered several elective courses to explore and learn outside of the standard curriculum and athletic teams are offered as a part of student life.

Hamilton Middle School

Mission Statement: “We are Hamilton…Committed to Excellence.”

In 1992, Hamilton Middle School was named after former Assistant Superintendent for Special Services, Opal Hamilton, because of her exceptional service to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. The school was originally named Hamilton Intermediate School and only operated as a 6th grade campus. During the 1995-1996 school year, it was renamed Opal Hamilton Junior High and transitioned into a 6th/7th grade campus. Finally, in the following school year, it completed its transition to a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade campus and has since been known as Hamilton Middle School. Hamilton Middle School aims for students’ academic performance and achievement level to reflect excellence in learning and attainment of both high expectations and high standards. Students are offered several elective courses to explore and learn outside of the standard curriculum and athletics are offered as a part of student life.

Hopper Middle School

Mission Statement: To empower through trust, to grow through effort, to inspire through attitude, and to support through message! It’s all about the team!

Hopper Middle School was the 15th middle school to open in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. It was named after George E. Hopper Jr., who spent 32 years with CFISD. Hopper Middle School aims for all members of the Hopper community to help students receive a quality education in a safe and supportive environment to ensure the best possible educational opportunities. Hopper Middle School offers athletic teams as a part of the student life experience.

Kahla Middle School

Kahla Middle School opened its doors in 2005 as the 13th middle school in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. It was named after Julia Williams Kahla, who spent 32 years working for CFISD. She held several positions at multiple campuses and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Staff Development prior to her retirement in 2003. Kahla Middle School states that they aim for success to be the only option. Kahla Middle School offers athletic teams as a part of the student life experience.

Labay Middle School

Labay Middle School opened its doors in 1984. Labay Middle School is named after Allen F. Labay, who devoted 38 years to education and 27 years in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Labay was the superintendent of schools when Labay Middle School was built and he led the district during rapid growth, launching the community into future successes in education. The school currently serves students in 6th through 8th grade. Labay Middle School offers athletic teams as a part of the student life experience.

Rowe Middle School

Rowe Middle School opened its doors in the Fall of 2020, during the Coronavirus Pandemic, as the 19th middle school to open in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. It was named after Harold Rowe, whose career spanned 21 years starting in 1991. He served as the Director of Computer Services, Director of Technology Services, and the Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services. In addition to his years of service, he was recognized as one of the district’s 75 influential honorees during its 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee celebration in 2014. The first year of opening was particularly unique, as the district provided both virtual and on-campus learning. Its first open house was performed virtually due to the pandemic.

Salyards Middle School

Mission Statement: Our mission is to challenge and inspire students to adapt, grow, and strive for continued improvement through relevant and engaging learning environments.

Salyards Middle School opened its doors in 2011 as the 17th middle school in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. It was named after Dr. Cheryl Corbett Salyards, who retired from the district in June 2010 after 36 years in public education. Dr. Salyards served the district’s students and staff for 32 years In July 2003, Dr. Salyards was selected as the assistant to the superintendent by former superintendent Rick Berry. She assumed the role of associate superintendent for governmental relations and communication in July 2007.

Salyard Middle School’s vision is to build lifelong, empowered learners who have the necessary tools to become a contributing and responsible member of our ever-changing world. Athletic Teams and a variety of clubs are available for students to get involved in.

Smith Middle School

Mission Statement: Smith Middle School provides an engaging and rigorous learning environment through the collaboration of the entire school community. Our supportive atmosphere promotes critical thinking and problem solving, so students will be prepared to meet the demands of an ever-changing society.

Smith Middle School opened its doors in 2008 as the 16th middle school in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. It was named after Jodie Blair Smith, who spent 30 years working for CFISD. She began her career with the district as a teacher at Cy-Fair High School. She served as an assistant principal and an associate principal at Jersey Village High School and then, returned to Cy-Fair High School, where she served as the principal for 12 years. Jodie was serving as the assistant superintendent for secondary school administration when she retired in June 2003. In 2001, Jodie was selected as Houston’s High School Principal of the Year by the Houston Chronicle.

Spillane Middle School

Mission Statement: Our purpose, as the Spillane Learning Community is to learn the curriculum, solve problems, think independently and critically, display good citizenship, respect others, and take pride in our work and actions. Evidence of growth toward our commitments includes ongoing assessments of student knowledge, evaluation of student products, dialogue and feedback, and observation of interactions. To ensure student success, the Spillane Learning Community pledges to provide a system of support for each student.

Spillane Middle School opened its doors in 2005 as the 14th middle school in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. It was named after Carolyn Stamm Spillane, who spent 28 years as an educator for CFISD. SSpillane Middle School offers a variety of athletic teams for students to participate in.

Thornton Middle School

Mission Statement: Our mission at Thornton Middle School is to create and maintain a warm, supportive learning environment where the Thornton Family (parents/guardians, students, staff, and community) works collaboratively to provide our students a quality education. By providing students a foundation of rigorous academic skills and meaningful, relevant learning experiences, we will furnish them with the building blocks for a successful future. In addition to meeting academic needs, our intent is to address the whole child by providing activities that enhance self-esteem, improve interpersonal communication, build positive relationships, and promote self-responsibility. The Patriot ideal, symbolizing a love for our country, community, and school, also emphasizes self-respect and respect for others. As we learn from the past, focus on the present, and march into the future, we envision our students as life-long learners, productive citizens, and preservers of our democracy.

Thornton Middle School opened its doors in 1993. It was named after Donald O. Thornton, a retired Cypress-Fairbanks ISD superintendent. He served the district for 28 years as a teacher, coach, associate superintendent, and superintendent. The school envisions students will lead, contribute, and excel. Thornton offers a variety of athletic teams for students to participate in.

Truitt Middle School

Campus Goals: Truitt Middle School will create a safe and engaging environment to prepare our students for their future academic, behavioral and social demands.

Truitt Middle School opened its doors in 1990. It was named after Ronnie Truitt, who came to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in 1967. In 1971, he coached the Cy-Fair High School Bobcat basketball team to their state basketball championship. He began his administrative career in 1972 as a high school assistant principal and elementary principal, and spent his remaining years as principal of Jersey Village High School. Athletic Teams are available for students to get involved in as a part of student life.
